The Council of Development Finance Agencies is a national association dedicated to the advancement of development finance concerns and interests. Members are state, county and municipal development finance agencies and authorities that provide or otherwise support economic development financing programs as well as a variety of non-governmental and private organizations including bankers, underwriters, attorneys, financial advisors and other organizations interested in development finance. Student Loan News: The Department of Education announced it was firing more than 1,300 workers, effectively reducing the agency to half its current size. The cuts, which impact both K-12 education and the student loan program, may be followed by major changes such as transitioning oversight for student loans to another federal agency. You can learn more about the changes here.

The National Council of Nonprofits is trying to collect as many examples as possible of how the Executive Orders (EOs) freezing federal funds directly impacts your communities. 1,000 Friends of Florida is watching two bills you may also be interested. Supporting Agriculture & Rural Communities provides much-needed technical assistance and allocates nearly $200 million funding for rural communities, focusing on housing, health, education, and farm-to-market road improvements. It also establishes and revises associated grants to assist rural and fiscally constrained communities with land-use planning and other needs. Strengthening Coastal Communities promotes nature-based methods for improving coastal resiliency to sea level rise and storm surge, known as green infrastructure, such as mangrove replanting and restoration of oyster reefs, salt marshes and coral reefs. It requires a study and report on the value of such methods to reduce insurance premiums. They also have a Legislative Tracker you may find useful.
